Research : Eve Arnold

DISCLAIMER: All of these images were taken by Eve Arnold.
None of the above images are my own.

Eve Arnold is an american photojournalist and celebrity photographer. She is most well known for her shots of Marylin Monroe. I like her images because they look very natural and relaxed.

Research : Steve McCurry

Steve McCurry is an american photojournalist best known for his photograph "Afghan Girl" which is one of the most iconic portraits of all time. His photographs are really interesting because they show multi-culture. I really like his images and how colourful they are. The people in his photographs look like they are wearing costumes however I believe that's what they were actually wearing at the time and he hasn't staged many of his images.

Illuminating York

Illuminating York is a digital arts festival where lights and displays are projected onto buildings to show them in a different way. I really enjoyed this event because I already think that the architecture in York is beautiful so it was very interesting to see them like this. It is a very well organised event with wonderful displays and music to compliment them. Here are a few of my images from Illuminating York.

STUDIO TECHNIQUES Assignment : Task 2 : Research : Yousuf Karsh

I love the lighting here and the depth of field between Churchill and the background.

I really love this image and the lighting on his face.

Yousuf Karsh was born in Turkey in 1908. He moved to live with his uncle (a photographer) in Canada at the age of 16 and assisted in his studio. His work was recognised by the Canadian Prime Minister and he appointed him to photograph foreign leaders on their visits to the country. Throughout his career Karsh photographed some of the most famous artists, actors, politicians and scientists. I absolutely love his portraits. His low key and high key shots are stunning. I love all the different grey tones in his images. I would really like to attempt his style of portraiture in one of my own projects.
